This trimester feels like it has gone by very quickly, which means I've had fun with it. The amount of things that I've learned and gotten better at doing is large. I had no idea how to use a digital camera or use photoshop. When I first picked one up, the only thing I knew how to use was the power and shutter release buttons. Now I know things that, while simple, make my photos look way better than I thought they could. When I first opened photoshop, I only knew about the brush tool. Sure, I could mess around with photos, but now I know how to make a picture look even more aesthetic.
The first photos I took with the cameras were horrible. They were either underexposed, overexposed, or blurry. I didn't know that a wider aperture could make a photo blurry if I moved, or that a slow shutter speed exposed the shot. But with the help of my teacher and hours of practice, I would like tho think that I am at least a pretty ok photographer. Plus, going out to take photos can just turn into an adventure. I was going out to take nature pictures, but accidentally found a path behind a church with beautiful architecture. This is why I am encouraging friends to start photography. Even if they dont want to, just to get outside and explore.

This was also a pretty simple photoshop assignment where the goal was to to make a photo look like there was multiple versions of the same person. It was mostly just cropping and creating masks of the crops so it really wasn't that hard of an assignment. Honestly, the hardest part was probably cleaning up the edges of the masks so it didn't look like there was suddenly a different lighting only around each person.
This was a very simple photoshop assignment that involved creating 3 puns using only pictures. The dictionary part was the similar but I only had to define a word using pictures and text. Feel free to try to guess what the puns mean. I think that portraits are probably the most fun to do out of most of the types of photos. Its mostly due to the fact that its basically just going out with friends and taking pictures of them while you just have fun. I only got 1 guy because the other model didn't show but I hope that that the photos are still just as good as I hope they are
This week I took photos of nature and landscape. Going out and shooting the pictures was kinda boring. The part I actually had fun doing was the edit in photoshop. Its meant to be a glitch type of effect.
This one was a bit difficult to do because of it being the first time trying it and needing the right amount of light for the right amount of time. I think my favorite on is this one (below) not because I'm the model but because I had someone shine a light on me and then take it off and then shine it on me while I was in a different spot. I know it could use some work but I think I did a pretty god job for the first time. I plan on trying this a few more times but I probably wont post them. These are a few others that I took and thought looked pretty good or at least kinda ok.
This was a pretty fun assignment to do. I always wanted to use photoshop however I want to and this assignment ley me do just that. I just had to take a picture of the school
This week my photo theme was architecture. The photos have a bit more of a religious feel to them but thats because of where I ended up finding them. Hopefully you can get past that and enjoy them anyway. I felt like the hardest part of this was finding places to take the photos at. There are not many buildings in Saline that have very unique shapes and sizes. But I am pretty happy with the way some of these came out. The image below is one of my favorites. The look of it is just nice to look at. The framing is really nice with the lake in the background. This one is easily my favorite. These are a few others that I took and thought turned out ok.
This next type of photo I shot is called a panoramic. You basically take a few similar shots of the same place and edit it so they blend together into one long picture. I don't like this type of photo particularly just because its harder to show any type of creativity. Once you take the photos, the rest is done in photoshop. Thats really all there is to do. Photoshop does basically all of the work for you, making this, in my eyes, a boring task.
These are my best black and white photos. I usually think that when there is a black and white photo, its probably not meant to be a happy one. It might show sadness, or it could be creepy, or show how something has been abandoned. So thats what I tried to show in a lot of these photos. In the gnome shot, I feel like its pretty clear that that one is meant to have a creepy vibe to it, the one with family has the abandoned theme, the bench follows the same theme, the book and the monument are sadness, and the cat is kinda evil, If you can notice her mustache.
